Besakih Temple: Our next stop will be Besakih
Temple located about a 45-minute drive from Kintamani toward the eastern. Besakih is the most important, the largest, and the holiest temple of the Hindu religion in Bali. It sits 1000 meters on the side of Mount Agung and is an extensive complex of 23 separate but related temples. On a clear day, we can see Mount Agung, the home of the Gods right behind it which is still active today. Before entering the head of the temple, people should wear a sarong. The sarong shows respect and presents humans in a beautiful way to the Gods. In addition, many people can be seen wearing a small sash around their waist so that it covers up the naval. The navel is considered to be a source of anger and jealousy and when you enter a temple you need to have a clear and calm aura, thus the sash is worn to limit the negative energy. Women are also asked to tie their hair back.
The last tourist destination will be Kerta Gosha, located in Klungkung
Regency, which takes about a 45-minute drive from Besakih Temple downhill through Bukit Jambul which offers us a beautiful panorama of ricefield and valley. Kerta Gosa or Taman Gili Kerta Gosa as it's officially called is a historical landmark in the town of Klungkung. Kerta Gosa forms part of the Puri Semarapura royal palace and features two main structures, a grand hall or the namesake Bale Kerta Gosa with ceilings filled with Kamasan or wayang-style paintings, and the Bale Kambang, a floating hall. Kerta Gosa complex dates back to 1686 when it was commissioned by Dewa Agung Jambe, then ruler of the Klungkung kingdom. Kerta Gosa has undergone a series of restorations in the past and is one of Bali's most important historical sites. The site is open for the public to visit. The hall structures served as the main place for the royal family to conduct important rituals and rites of passage. It also served as a court during the Dutch occupancy in Klungkung from 1908 to 1942.
