Bali Traditional House Compound

Pick you up at your lobby hotel then drive to the inner of Bali Island, first destination is Bali's traditional house located at Batuan Village. It takes about a 1-hour drive from Bali's major tourist areas such as Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Sanur, and Nusa Dua or about 30 minutes drive from the Sanur area. Here at Bali traditional house, we can explore deeply Bali tradition and way of life. Bali House (The compound of Balinese traditional house) is basically divided into three parts. The Balinese apply the concept of Tri Angga and Tri Loka when building the structure of the building. Tri Angga is the three-part of the human body and Tri Loka is the upper (Bhur), middle (Bwah), and lower (Swah) world of existence. A family temple or holy structure will be built in the eastern or northern part of the compound, the living quarter will be in the middle while the waste area will be in a seaward direction. Balinese uses traditional local knowledge and wisdom of architecture known as Asta Kosala Kosali Bali.
Goa Gajah Bali Elephant Cave

The next destination is Goa Gajah, a Bali elephant cave, located at Bedulu Village, Gianyar Regency, which takes about 30 minutes drive from Batuan's traditional Bali house compound. Elephant Cave Temple (known locally as Goa Gajah) is a historically significant archaeological site from the Buddhist and Hindu era on Bali Island, now popular as tourist attraction. Despite its name, you won't find any pachyderms here, unless you count the stone figure of Ganesh, a Hindu lord with an elephant's head. Built as a spiritual place for meditation, Elephant Cave Temple dates as far back as the 11th century. Built on a hillside where two streams met to form a river junction, the site was deemed sacred and the temple was built for prayer and enclosed meditation. The entrance to the cave depicts a giant menacing face whose wide open mouth forms the doorway. While there are various animal and forest motifs depicted by carvings on the outer rock face, the giant face of the doorway is considered to be that of an elephant.
Tirta Empul Holy Spring

The holy journey will be continued to visit Tirta Empul Temple located at Manukaya Village, Tampaksiring Gianyar Bali, which takes about 30 minutes to drive from Goa Gajah Elephant Cave. Tirta Empul, Bali, is one of the largest and busiest water temples in Indonesia. The temple was founded in 926 A.D. and is dedicated to Vishnu, who is the Hindu God of water. The name of the temple actually means Tirta = water, Empul = bubbling up in Balinese. Overlooking the temple complex is a presidential palace that was built for Soekarno, the first President of Indonesia, in 1954. The president's palace is now used as a place for visiting dignitaries and important guests, close to the public. Tirta Empul is open seven days a week, the opening hours for the temple are between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. The temple will be crowded with locals upon a special holiday in Bali such as the full moon.
The Tirta Empul Temple is divided into 3 courtyards such as Jaba, Jaba Tengan, and Jeroan. Every courtyard has a different function. After paying the entrance ticket, following the way, and walking through the large stone Balinese doorway called Candi Bentar, we will arrive soon at Jabe. There is a large open space paved underneath with worn stone. The courtyard is enclosed on three sides by large stonewalls. Dominating the right side of the courtyard is a large open-air pavilion usually uses for meetings or open stage performances. On the back side of the open pavilion, there are toilets, changing rooms, and lockers to store valuable things for visitors who want to bathe for spiritual cleansing. The Jaba Tengah is the most famous part of the Tirta Empul temple. This section contains the two purification pools. The water in the pools is believed to have magical powers and local Balinese come here to purify themselves under the 30 water spouts that feed the pools. Bathers start in the pool on the left and dip themselves under the first water spout. Once they have cleansed themselves under the first spout they join the next queue. They continue this process until they have cleansed themselves under each of the 30 waterspouts that fill the two purification pools. This overall process is known as melukat by the locals and is carried out to spiritually purify the mind and soul. It can be done at any place considered holy by the Balinese, although the Tirta Empul (or Holy Spring Temple) is considered the holiest site for this cleansing. Jeroan is the inner sanctum of the temple where many shires dedicated to deities are located. Women during the monthly period are not allowed to come to this area.
Koi Pool

Fat koi swim lazily in the pond waiting for their next meal from the tourists.
