Balinese Food
Apart from exotic sights and sounds, Bali offers the pleasure
of taste with a mixture of cuisine that is simply astonishing
in variety. The influence of different cultures results in different
cooking techniques, ingredients and spices. Characterised by strong
flavour, the food is usually very spicy with creative preparations
and multifarious cooking style.

The staple food in Bali is white, polished steam rice. Meat
used in Balinese cooking are pork, chicken, duck, fish and beef
although some Balinese do not eat it. We have outline a fews of
Balinese food :
- Bali Guling, or pig roasted on a spit, stuffed with herbs, spices and chilliesis a favourite and you will often find roadside restaurants that specialize in this dish
- Nasi Goreng, fried rice with an assortment of ingredients such as; chicken, vegetables, fork, beef. Usually served with prawn crackers and a fried egg.
- Sate Lilit, minced seafood of pork (small kebabs). Usually order half a dozen or more, served with peanut or hot pepper sauce.
- Ayam Goreng / Bakar, fried/roasted chicken.
- Betutu Bebek (literally means ’steamed meat of chicken’) is particularly popular, a dish made from stuffed duck cooked in hot ashes or steamed in banan leaves.
