Gilimanuk Harbor in West of Bali holiday Island
20 August 2015Gilimanuk is west gate for visitors who come to Bali Island from Java Island by land transportation. It is reached by crossing Bali Strait by ferry from Ketapang Harbor, East Java. Besides Gilimanuk Harbor, there is a beautiful bay named Gilimanuk Bay which is known as Secret Bay. This bay is the centre of Water Tourism in Jembrana Regency, offering the beauty of its submarine flora and fauna and also other water recreational facilities. In its area, there are two island named Kalong Island and Burung Island which are inhabited by thousand of birds and bats. Nearby the bay is the site of ancient people settlement which has been completed by pre-historic museum, known as Museum of Gilimanuk Ancient People with many collection of prehistoric remains. Besides as the object of tourism, this museum is also functioned as centre of archeological research.
A part of Gilimanuk area is belonging to West Bali National Park which is the indigenous habitat of the mascot of Balinese Fauna, which is white starling (Leucopsar Rothschildi) . Beside as the area of conserving flora and fauna, this park is also functioned as tourism attraction due to its beauty and availability of spiritual places, spring on the beach, and also a Monument named Monument Lintas Laut which was built to remain the heroic battle on the era of physical revolution after declaration of independence in 1945.
As harbor area, national park and also object of tourism, Gilimanuk has been completed by tourism facilities such as restaurant, art shop, hotel, etc. From Bali famous tourist sport such as Kuta, Sanur, Legian, Seminyak, Nusa Dua, will take a long drive to get Gilimanuk Harbor, it takes about 3 hours drive through main road.
